Seasonality and Secondary Chemicals in Costa Rican Trees

The Effects of Seasonality on Total Phenolic level in the Leaves of Costa Rican Understory Plants from Three Genera (Inga, Piper, and Psychotria) (Fall 2011 – Winter 2011). Over a two week trip to Costa Rica, leaf samples were collected and analyzed for TPC. The two locations were La Selva, a forest located in middle of the country where it rains throughout the year, and Sirena, a southern forest that receives most of its rainfall during summer. This was my first experience with field work and we presented our results to the class.
